Finding Comfort Without Food

I am looking to find ways to get some comfort without turning to food.  I would love to hear some ideas to help me get through weeks like the following:
It has been a very rough month between overworking, constant pressure, a fibromyalgia flare up, and exhaustion.  All I could manage is to crawl home, take more ibuprofen, and cuddle myself with attempts at comfort foods.  Activities are impossible when I can barely walk.
So I have been self-medicating with food.  I want to find a better way to help myself.  I took myself to the coast for a few days and found the salt and the sand and the sea brought much comfort.  Too bad I can't have it in my kitchen all the time :)

I know how you feel. I don't find myself eating for comfort, mainly boredom, and the freakin good taste of the things I like!!! Then I could smack myself after I'm done. I do walk when I'm stressed, so I can see how you don't have a release when you can move without pain. Hang in there.

I, personally, so some hand sewing or embroidery. Also fine that eating a bit.....small bit...of PNB in celery and chew, chew, chew....helps me some. Good luck in finding the strength to overcome your need to eat for comfort. I'm healthy so my "fixes" might not work for you.

Thank you Wendy. I appreciate your ideas. I read that one woman reads children's books to get some comfort. Books like Treasure Island and Trixie Beldon. I might try that :) I use hand work (applique or embroidery). I like the idea of reading children's books--simple and they are books I once loved :) Celery is always a good choice. Not as much comfort but always a good choice :)
